SANTO DOMINGO, 20 de enero de 2021.- El Gobierno dominicano a través del Ministerio de Agricultura aportará los recursos económicos necesarios para dotar a productores de alimentos del país de un seguro agropecuario, como una perspectiva de gestión integral de riesgos.
El ministro de Agricultura, Limber Cruz, anunció que los seguros de riesgos se hacen cada vez más necesarios en la agricultura debido al impacto económico sobre las cosechas, que generan distintos factores como las plagas y el cambio climático.
“El que tiene un buen seguro no pierde la producción, por eso vamos a fortalecer la Aseguradora Agropecuaria Dominicana, le vamos a dar el respaldo que necesite para eso”, dijo Cruz tras encabezar la firma de un convenio entre Agricultura, la Junta Agroempresarial Dominicana (JAD) y la Aseguradora Agropecuaria Dominicana (Agrodosa).
En dicho acuerdo se establece la ejecución de estrategias de promoción para promover, defender e instituir el seguro agropecuario como una herramienta básica para el sector.
La iniciativa persigue orientar a los productores agropecuarios sobre la necesidad de asegurar sus cosechas, como forma de evitar pérdidas significativas.
El convenio fue firmado por el ministro de Agricultura, Limber Cruz; el presidente de la JAD, Luis Bonilla; y el director de Agrodosa, José Fabelo; en presencia del administrador del Banco Agrícola, Fernando Durán y los directores del Inespre, Ivan Hernández Guzman y de la Dirección General de Riesgos Agropecuarios (DIGERA), Kohuris Henríquez Disla; así como productores agropecuarios y técnicos del área.
El director de Agrodosa agradeció el respaldo que ofreció el ministro de Agricultura y dijo que una tarea impostergable es dar a conocer la importancia de la institución para garantizar sus cosechas.
En tanto, que el presidente de la JAD planteó que las aseguradoras y los productores agropecuarios trabajen como una sola asociación, porque persiguen un mismo objetivo que es garantizar la producción en el campo.
El acuerdo contempla que Digera y Agrodosa asumirán la responsabilidad de la asistencia técnica y financiera del plan de promoción de los seguros en la producción agropecuaria.
