SANTO DOMINGO, 22 de febrero de 2021.- La Comisión Nacional
Arrocera (CONA) fijó este lunes los precios de sustentación del arroz para la cosecha de este año, considerada como una de la más productivas del país, y aseguró que la población continuará recibiendo el alimento a un precio no mayor de 27 pesos la libra del selecto tipo A.
El organismo integrado por las autoridades del sector agropecuario, molineros, asociaciones y federaciones fijó a unanimidad la banda de precios de la actual cosecha, que fluctuará de RD$2,700 pesos el piso y $2,800 pesos el techo por fanega de 120 kilogramos en cáscara verde para las variedades generales del cereal.
En tanto que el precio techo al saco de arroz blanco selecto “A” de 125 libras se distribuirá a un precio de RD$2,900.00 el saco.
Al encabezar la reunión, el ministro de Agricultura, Limber Cruz, saludó la decisión que favorece a los productores, factorías, la industria y a los consumidores.
Dijo que para este año el país el sector, en el que participan más de 30 mil personas en la cadena de producción, dispone de 16 millones de quintales de arroz para abastecer los mercados y suplir la demanda de la población.
De igual manera, el sector dispone de un millón 200 mil tareas para cultivos, las cuales están produciendo 12 millones de quintales anuales. Intervienen en la producción 30 mil productores que proveen más de 800 mil empleos directos e indirectos, de acuerdo con el ministro.
“Estamos anunciando al país y escucharon de la propia voz de los productores lo que ya hace una semana nosotros habíamos anunciado. El pueblo no debe temer con el tema del arroz. Hay en inventario suficiente, hay en producción por encima de años anteriores, lo que quiere decir que la República Dominicana comerá arroz y a buenos precios”, indicó el ministro.
En representación de los productores, Olivero Espaillat ratificó la estabilidad del sector y exhortó a la población a estar tranquilos.
Otros puntos acordados por CONA establecen que el programa de pignoración 2021 de la Unidad Ejecutora de Pignoración (UEPI) comenzará a partir del 1 de mayo y el costo por piso de la banda se fijó en RD$2,700.00.
En la reunión participaron Roberto Familia, representante de los productores de la Reforma Agraria; José Mauricio María, asesor arrocero del Poder Ejecutivo; Manuel Tavárez Miraval, de las factorías privadas; Fernando Durán, administrador del Banco Agrícola; Iván Hernández, los directores del INESPRE; Juan Tomás Camilo, del UEPI; y del Instituto Agrario Dominicano (IAD), José Daniel del Rosario, entre otros.
