Según una comunicación de la Presidencia de la República, Rivera Reyes ha ocupado la dirección del hospital Regional Universitario Cabral y Báez y es socio fundador de la Clínica Unión Médica del Norte, principal centro médico privado del país con más de 600 médicos y donde son atendidas 160 mil personas mensuales.
El comunicado agrega que, además de ejercer la medicina, en este centro, el doctor Rivera ha desempeñado funciones administrativas como la de vicepresidente y director.
Rivera es actualmente es el presidente de su Consejo de Administración del centro de salud desde 2018 y vicepresidente de la Asociación de Clínicas Privadas (Adeclip).
El nuevo ministro de Salud fue vicepresidente del Colegio Médico Dominicano de Santiago y alto dirigente del Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM).
